I have 2 types of relationship with my neighborhoods ever.
One is traditional and the other is so modern.
Until the 3rd grade of elementary school, I've lived in an apartment house.
In the apartment, I had much friends as same age as me, and I played with them outside riding bicycles or running together almost everyday, so I had very good relationship with neighborhoods living in the same apartment.
My family also had good relarionship with neighbors. My mother used to visit neighbor's house and had some tea together and enjoy talking.
Although my father was busy worker during the day, and he doesn't know so much neighbors, he said hello to everyone:)
When I was 4th grade, I moved. Unfortunately, there was no one who were around same age as me in neighborhood, and I got to not play outside.
Then, the relationship with neighborhoods became weaker.
Of course I say hello to my neighbors when we meet, there are not so strong relarionship with them.
It is modern Japanese realtionship with neighborhoods.

I live in a house here, so we have some kind of relationship with our neighbors. I think it's easier to that than when you live in a large apartment building. For example, we have pond cleaning day twice a year when we all gather to clean up around the neighborhood pond.

返信削除I remember now that we also have a cleaning day.
Then, we can talk with each other and enjoy cleaning:)
I have never meet to the neighbors after moved the apartment which I live now. So I think there is no relationship and I also thought it is modern Japanese relationship with neighbors.
返信削除That's interesting. I've been living in a same apartment for almost 15 years, but I have a similar experience like you. I had strong relationship with my neighbours when I was in elementary school, but not anymore now.
